A typing speed test measures how many words you type per minute (WPM) over a short passage, using a standard formula: WPM = (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. This guide explains how that measurement works, the difference between gross and net WPM, why two tests can give you different scores, and how Klavaro measures…
A good typing speed for most adults is around 40 words per minute (WPM) with high accuracy — that figure is commonly cited as the average for everyday computer users. Around 60 WPM is fast, employers often ask for 40–60+ WPM in office and data-entry roles, and anything above 80 WPM is expert territory. But…
Fluidness is Klavaro’s fourth and final module: you type complete paragraphs, and the training goal shifts from speed to rhythm — a steady, even pace, sustained across real text, with one strict rule that errors must be corrected before you can continue. It is the module that feels most like actual writing, and the one…
Velocity is Klavaro’s third module, where touch typing turns into typing: the drills use real words from your own language, timed, so your fingers start learning whole-word patterns and your words per minute (WPM) becomes a score worth watching. After the Adaptability module stripped away every pattern to fix your weak keys, Velocity puts the…
Adaptability is Klavaro’s second module, and the one learners either respect or resent: it throws random strings of characters at you — no words, no patterns, nothing to guess — weighted towards the keys you personally get wrong. It is called “adaptability” because it trains your fingers to handle any key, in any order, including…
The Basic Course is Klavaro’s first module and the foundation of everything after it: a sequence of lessons that teaches your fingers the position of every key on the keyboard, starting from the home row and expanding outward in small groups. It is deliberately slow, deliberately repetitive, and it disables the backspace key on purpose….
If you have never touch-typed, this roadmap is for you. Touch typing for beginners means one thing in week one: learning to type with all ten fingers, from the home row, without looking at the keyboard — slowly, accurately, and for short sessions every day. You do not need talent, special equipment or long study…
To type faster, stop trying to type faster. Typing speed is a by-product of accuracy, finger independence and rhythm — build those, and your words per minute (WPM) climbs on its own. Every method in this guide works on that principle, and most of them are built directly into the course structure of Klavaro, the…
Touch typing is typing without looking at the keys: your fingers rest on a fixed home position, each finger owns a specific set of keys, and you find every letter by touch and muscle memory while your eyes stay on the screen. It is the skill behind every fast, accurate typist, and it is learnable…
Klavaro is a free, open-source touch typing tutor that teaches you to type without looking at the keyboard through a structured four-module course: Basic Course, Adaptability, Velocity and Fluidness. Unlike browser typing games, it runs entirely offline on your computer, tracks your words per minute (WPM) and accuracy in progress charts, and adapts to almost…
